Speaker: Gary Chock, S.E. of Martin, Chock & Carden, Inc.

Bio: Gary Chock is the President of Martin, Chock & Carden, Inc. and is a licensed structural engineer in Hawaii and California. He has been engaged in structural engineering since 1980. Gary Chock is a Distinguished Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a Fellow of its Structural Engineering Institute. He is a member of the ASCE 7 Task Committee on Wind Loads and the ASCE 7 Steering Committee.

Abstract: A review of the 2023 updated wind design provisions for Hawaii which will include the latest high resolution wind maps and the draft of the upcoming Wind Design Guide for Hawaii. The history of wind design in Hawaii as well as the current requirements will also be discussed.
